Reviving BeTheHippy
Turning an old content asset into a measurable buyer-assist engine.
Data confidence: Mixed
Overview
BeTheHippy is the first active proof point for the BEHOLDINGS operating system. It is not a new site — it is an old asset being revived. The experiment asks whether an older content property that once had meaningful organic traffic can be rebuilt into a measurable content-commerce engine, rather than chasing traffic for its own sake.
Operating question
Can an older content property that once had meaningful organic traffic be rebuilt into a measurable content-commerce engine?
Baseline
Historical (pending verification): In 2021, BeTheHippy reportedly reached roughly 25k Google Search Console clicks in a 30-day window. After years of decay, search disruption, and site changes, current traffic fell close to zero before the rebuild began.
Need data: old GSC screenshot/export showing the 25k click period, the exact date range, top pages from that period, and top queries if available.
Current rebuild (to be supplied): latest 28-day GSC clicks, latest 28-day GSC impressions, indexed pages count, top pages, top queries, affiliate clicks, email signups, Amazon/Awin revenue if available, Pinterest outbound clicks once active.
What changed
- →moved/rebuilt canonical site
- →redirect/410 cleanup
- →trust pages: methodology, changelog, corrections
- →reviewed stamps and affiliate disclosures
- →affiliate tracking audit
- →buyer-engine CTAs
- →AccessoryRail rollout
- →starter kit test
- →homepage intent router
- →machine finder affiliate event wiring
- →indexation request queue
- →Pinterest distribution system started
Core thesis
If BeTheHippy can restore trust, improve indexation, and create clearer paths from high-intent content to product decisions, then the property can become a measurable content-commerce engine again.
What we're measuring
- →GSC clicks and impressions
- →indexed priority pages
- →affiliate clicks by page
- →affiliate clicks by placement
- →email signups
- →product/kit page engagement
- →Pinterest saves and outbound clicks
- →affiliate revenue
- →repeat visitor behavior if available
What is intentionally on hold
- →mushroom expansion
- →CBD/pet/grow expansion
- →multiple kit pages
- →full email nurture sequence
- →more product reviews without first-hand testing
- →major new page families before buyer-surface data is clear
Current result
Rebuild in progress. Buyer surfaces, trust pages, and tracking are live; meaningful current performance data is still being gathered before any claims are made.
Next decision
Review whether to ship a second kit page, move buyer modules higher on key pages, revise copy and placement, improve indexation and internal linking, or pause new builds until current surfaces produce clearer data.
